An Ounce of Prevention

According to a 2001 Harris Interactive survey of 900 people aged 21 and older, approximately 55 percent of respondents said they consume alcohol beverages at least once a week. Social alcohol consumers face considerable societal and health risks. A study published in the March 2006 Oxford Medical Journal found that 90 percent of patients with alcoholic liver disease were in a stable relationship, and drank socially with family, friends, and work colleagues.
An increasing number of studies have concluded that most, if not all of the health risks from social alcohol use -- from common hangover symptoms to more serious potential long term health risks including skin wrinkling/aging, liver disease, cancer, osteoporosis, and Azheimer's -- are caused not by alcohol itself, but by an extremely toxic chemical produced as the liver breaks it down, called acetaldehyde.Acetaldehyde has been shown in numerous studies to be up to 30 times more toxic than alcohol itself. It is also found in cigarette smoke, car exhaust, and embalming fluid (hence the booze related expression, "getting embalmed"). Dubbed 'the hangover gene' by a Japanese study, acetaldehyde is also the cause of flushing, which refers to the redness that Asians and other sensitive people experience while drinking.
Works Naturally with Alcohol Metabolism
The lemon lime flavored IntelliShot works biologically with alcohol metabolism to help naturally slow and reduce the initial conversion of alcohol into acetaldehyde, speed up its conversion into harmless acetic acid, and also scavenge unmetabolized acetaldehyde.
In addition to the proven liver antioxidants N-acetyl cysteine and milk thistle extract (silymarin), IntelliShot contains succinic acid, a powerful natural immune system booster. Originally extracted from the fossilized resin of 40 million year old Baltic pine trees, succinic acid has been renowned as a natural protectant against ionizing radiation, infections, alcohol, and other toxins in Europe for centuries.
Extensive research at the Russian Academy of Sciences indicates that succinic acid, as a bio-stimulant stimulates neural system and recovery processes by activating the second half-cycle of tricarboxylic acids to help accelerate the decomposition of acetaldehyde and the energization of the oxidation processes in the mitochondria.
A standard drink contains about one-half ounce of pure alcohol. The average liver can only process about a quarter of an ounce of alcohol per hour. It takes about 6 hours to eliminate all the alcohol in 3 glasses of wine. That's 6 hours of continuous exposure to acetaldehyde, possibly longer. Unmetabolized acetaldehyde overloads the liver and floods the body via the blood stream, causing hangover symptoms, and worse.
As few as two drinks a day can dehydrate the skin enough to make your skin eventually wrinkle like a baked apple and your veins go spidey, according to Dr. Janet Maccaro, Ph.D. Acetaldehyde attacks the collagen and elastin that holds skin together, reducing elasticity and firmness. It robs the body of vitamin C, a crucial nutrient for healthy skin, and dilates blood vessels, leading to broken veins (telangiectasia). Drinking before bedtime is even worse. The horizontal position of the body during sleep makes it easier for intoxicated capillaries to leak into soft tissue, resulting in skin stretching, facial puffiness, and faster wrinkle formation.
Acetaldehyde also increases the risk of osteoporosis, because it interferes with the body's ability to absorb calcium. This gets worse with age, especially for women, who tend to store more fat after 40, when the body takes longer to process alcohol.
There is no absolutely safe level of acetaldehyde consumption, according to Helmut Seitz, professor of alcohol research at the University of Heidelberg in Germany. "It is not necessary to drink huge amounts of alcohol -- even low amounts of ethanol taken regularly in a sensitive person increases their risk," Seitz says. Acetaldehyde also seems to play a role in breast cancer, with up to 5 per cent of all breast cancers attributable to alcohol consumption. "The cells don't forget. This will initiate tumors 20 to 25 years later," says Seitz, who is convinced that escalating alcohol intake in the west is linked to rising rates of liver, colon and rectal cancer.
The 1.5 ounce, lemon lime flavored IntelliShot can be taken straight, or as a mixer with popular cocktails including margaritas, martinis, and mojitos. A single shot is effective for 3 to 4 standard alcohol drinks, and does not affect inebriation, absorb alcohol, or lower blood alcohol content.
"As a supplement, the Cheerz product has significant beneficial biological effects in assisting the liver in the metabolism of alcohol," says Dr. Dirk P. Slaker, M.D., a hepatologist from St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis. "It is remarkably effective in reducing the symptomatic effects of alcohol toxicity with responsible social use."
"The Cheerz product appeals to me as it specifically targets acetaldehyde metabolism," says Dr. John Paul Shen, a resident physician at UCSD Department of Internal Medicine in San Diego, California. "There is growing evidence that acetaldehyde is a main cause of hangover symptoms and also Asian flush. By helping to remove this toxic chemical from the body, Cheerz can alleviate hangover and flushing symptoms."
Since acetaldehyde has been shown to be 1,000 times a more potent reinforcer than alcohol itself, ameliorating its effects may reduce cravings linked to hair of the dog 'remedies', binge drinking, and dependency. Just as disulfuram (Antabuse) is prescribed to chronic alcoholics to produce acute sensitivity to alcohol by blocking the liver's ability to convert acetaldehyde, the Cheerz product promotes health by supporting the liver's ability to eliminate acetaldehyde from the body.
Coming to Reality TV
IntelliShot will soon be featured in a national reality TV show. The product has already been requested for exclusive events by the Playboy Mansion, P. Diddy, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Rolls Royce. Coors and Bacardi have approached the company about potentially licensing it as a functional additive. Now you can enjoy responsible social drinking while protecting your health, vitality and longevity.

Doctors have discovered a new shot that not only helps prevent common 'hangover' symptoms like headache and nausea, but also more serious potential health risks to social alcohol drinkers, including premature skin wrinking, liver disease, cancer, osteoporosis, and Alzheimer's.
